[Loose stone appraisal certificate included] Large, dynamically shining beads! Triphane 15.83 CT
This is a large triphane that shines in a refreshing yellow with outstanding transparency. Triphane is a mineral discovered in Brazil in 1887 and means "three faces" in Greek. It is also a gemstone belonging to the spodumene (spodumene) family, and its mineral characteristics come in a variety of colors due to the replacement of aluminum, one of its main components, by another component. For example, if the main component contains a lot of manganese ions, it will become "kunzite," which has a purple or pink color, and if it contains a lot of chromium ions, it will become "hiddenite," which has a green color. The color-producing factors of triphane have yet to be elucidated, and it remains a bit mysterious, but one interesting feature is that the name of the gemstone changes as some of its components are replaced. It is also famous as a healing stone. Therefore, low-quality crystals such as brown crystals that do not belong to the kunzite and hiddenite groups are sometimes recognized as triphane. Spodumene has few clear crystals with few inclusions, and the gem-quality triphane that does exist is generally yellow in color. It is also known as Yellow Kunzite. This crystal also contains some inclusions, but they are quite minimal. Of course, just like Kunzite, it can be easily fashioned into jewelry. Large gem-quality triphanes in loose form are surprisingly rare, making this a gemstone we highly recommend for collections. |
