This is the rare stone raspberry (petzottaite) that boasts a soft pink color.

A rare encounter with Raspberyl.

The gemstone was discovered in November 2002 in the Sakavarana mine in Fianarantsoa Province in southeastern Madagascar.

It was originally thought to be a type of beryl and came to be called raspberry or pink beryl.

However, after a scientific analysis
In 2003, it was recognized by the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) as a new mineral with a structure similar to beryl, and the official name of both the mineral and the gemstone was pezzottaite, named after Dr. Federico Pezzotta, who analyzed the mineral.

In 2002, approximately 40 kg of raw stones were produced in Madagascar, and only about 10% of them were of gem quality.

It has already been depleted in Madagascar, and although it is said that a small amount was produced around 2017, there have been no further reports of new production.

Like the famous German rare stone aventurine, it is mined by hand from pegmatite deposits as its abundance is so small that it cannot be extracted using heavy machinery.

It is said that a size of 1 carat is sufficient for a large stone.

There is very little gem quality and it has already been depleted, and large sizes are no longer available.
It is so popular that it can be called the rarest of rare stones.
