Montebrasite is often shrouded in mystery, and
until recently, it was thought to be the same gem as amblygonite.

it can be divided into a fluorine type and a hydroxyl type,
with the fluorine type being amblygonite and
the hydroxyl type being montebrasite.

Furthermore, the cause of its coloration is said to be undetermined, and
depending on the identification laboratory, the identification report
