Collection: sapphire

Sapphire is a gemstone belonging to the mineral corundum and is the birthstone for September. Generally, it is often called blue sapphire, and is considered a representative of blue-colored gemstones. However, the hue varies subtly depending on the origin, and Kashmir sapphire is known as the highest quality blue sapphire. This is because there are fine inclusions within the crystals that give it a beautiful deep blue color. However, it is not currently supplied to the market and is said to be a phantom gem.

Sapphire is also produced in Myanmar, and high-quality sapphire called royal blue is distributed in the market. These sapphires exhibit a deep, vivid blue under incandescent light, and dark blue sapphires with a violet tint to the blue are popular.

Sapphire's blue color is due to its iron and titanium content. Charge transfer occurs between these elements, producing a blue color. Sapphire also has strong dichroism, enhancing its characteristic blue color.
