This gemstone has come to be called ``Mandarin Garnet'' in the global market because of its mandarin orange-like hue.

Mandarin garnet was discovered near the Kunene River in Namibia around 1992, but unfortunately the mine in the mountains of Namibia closed quickly after a few years.
