[Loose stone appraisal certificate included] Rare UV opal! Hyalite Opal (Glass Opal) 0.46 CT
Unlike precious opals, which have play of color like black opals and Mexican opals, common opals do not have play of color. Instead, it has a fascinating special effect. Hyalite opal comes from the Greek word hualos, which means glass. Because of its glass-like appearance, it is commonly known as glass opal and is extremely difficult to produce among opal species. Because it is the rarest, it is also called the mysterious stone. As it is called glass opal, it is characterized by unique bubble-like and rhytidian-like inclusions. It gives the impression of being similar to moldavite, a famous natural glass. Hyalite also contains trace amounts of natural uranium, which fluoresces in ultraviolet light and emits a fluorescent blue-green color. In recent years, this fluorescent type has become somewhat common, but the conditions for producing hyalite are difficult to begin with, and it is not mined in various parts of the world like quartz, so once it can no longer be mined, it will be very difficult to obtain it again. This is a rare UV fluorescent opal that all collectors should have. |
